Just Starting

I am just getting started on my healthy path. Three months ago I weighed 304 pounds and have so far lost about 30 of them. I need to loose about another 40 to feel good about myself, but I already feel alot better.

To motivate me more, I recently signed up for my first sprint Triathlon. This is a big step for me since I have never done a race of any type before. To prepare for it, I started by swimming. I can currently swim for about 70 minutes with only a short stop or two. That is how I lost most of my weight.

For the Biking portion, I recently purchased a used road bike and started taking spin classes at the local YMCA. I think I could do the bike and swim portions now, but that will not be my biggest challenge. The biggest challenge will be the 3 mile run. I have not run in years and with my weight, I have been afraid to start.

To prepare for the run, I am starting small. Hopefully within the next week or two I will be able to do a full mile in my neighborhood without stoping. It would probably be easier if I did not live in such a hilly area of Knoxville. This morning I managed about 1.5 miles, but I had to walk several times.

That is all for now.
